Balancing Justice and Civil Liberties: The Detention of Khadija Shah

The recent decision by Lahore's Deputy Commissioner to extend the detention of fashion designer Khadija Shah for another 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance has raised concerns about the delicate balance between maintaining public safety and preserving individual liberties.

Khadija Shah's legal entanglement dates back to her arrest during the nationwide unrest on May 9, which erupted following the detention of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The subsequent protests escalated into violence, including attacks on military and state installations.
